Roll up your sleeves in Detroit, plant seedlings, and help a neighborhood grow fresh produce for pantry partners and youth trainees. Urban farms sit at the crossroads of hunger relief and skills building—crowdfunding on FoodHatch buys soil amendments, drip irrigation, and starter trays so harvests reach shelves when canned goods alone are not enough.
Farm leads will assign beds by crop: leafy greens for quick spring turns, tomatoes and peppers for summer boxes, and herbs that stretch pantry recipes. Youth trainees shadow experienced growers, learning transplanting, watering schedules, and how surplus is logged for partner distribution.
By noon you will see rows that were bare at breakfast filled with living starts—and you will leave knowing how your next donation funds mulch, tools, and stipends that keep the farm running through harvest season.
